Excavation Services in Moira, NY
CB Excavation covers the groundwork on a home site across Franklin County and St. Lawrence County: septic systems, land clearing, building pads, driveways, water lines, power entrances and drainage.
Everything underneath and around the house is ours. The house itself is your builder's. Where a job needs several of these at once, doing them in one sequence avoids opening the same ground three times over.
Most calls here are homeowners building on raw or wooded land rather than developers, so the pages below cover what each job involves, what decides the cost, and what has to be sorted before work starts.

The Order A House Site Goes In
People often call about one piece and find out it depends on three others. Clearing comes first: trees, brush and stumps off the footprint, plus working room for machines and the line the driveway is going to take. Clearing too tight is the most common thing we get called back for.
The driveway goes in early, because it is what gets everybody else onto the property, and concrete trucks do not do soft ground. Around the same time the soil test and septic design need to happen, because what the lot can take often decides where the house sits. Worth doing before the plans are final.
Then the pad gets dug and packed, and the septic, water line, power entrance and drainage all go in while the ground is open and the machines are already there. Your framing crew arrives to ground that is ready. The building itself is the one part we do not touch.

Common Questions
Either. Plenty of our work is a single item, like a driveway or a septic replacement. The full setup is what the business is built for, but it is not a requirement.
The building. No framing, no walls, no roof, and we do not pour the concrete. Everything under and around the house is ours; the house itself is your builder's.
The soil test. It decides what septic system the property can take, and on a tight lot that decision can move where the house goes. Doing it before the plans are finalised saves redrawing them.
It depends on the ground more than on anything else, which is why every service page here explains what moves the number rather than quoting a rate. Estimates are free, so it costs nothing to get a real one.
